About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiological Health Physicist to join our team at the Alaska State Public Health Laboratories. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of Alaskans by investigating and characterizing unnecessary ionizing and/or non-ionizing radiation exposure risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, develop, implement, and maintain Alaska's statewide Radiological Health Program
  • Investigate and characterize radiation exposure risks and implement measures to reduce or eliminate those risks to human health
  • Conduct inspections of radiological devices to ensure safety and compliance with Alaska regulations
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to protect the overall health of our population
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in health physics, environmental health, physics, or a closely related natural or physical science
  • Two years of professional experience in health physics or a closely related field, with one year in an official radiological health or radiological control program
  • Strong knowledge of radiation protection principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
