Production Planning Specialist

The Production Planning Specialist will collaborate closely with various departments including Purchasing, Operations, Sales, Maintenance, and Quality to ensure that customer shipment requirements are fulfilled efficiently. This role is responsible for orchestrating the workflow within the printing, finishing, and inspection sectors to minimize setup durations and maximize resource utilization for production.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain precise records of raw materials and finished products by assisting in the entry of all job-related data into the ERP system.
- Project future orders and coordinate with the Purchasing Manager to manage optimal levels of raw materials and finished goods.
- Complete batch documentation as necessary according to control plans.
- Communicate specific shipping requirements from customers to the Shipping and Quality Departments.
- Generate production reports, summaries, and trends based on data provided by the Controlling department.
- Establish production priorities, sequences, and lead times for each machine press and inspection station using a customer database that includes delivery requirements, inventory levels, sales forecasts, and customer orders.
- Collaborate with the Team Leader to plan and schedule the workflow of the printing and inspection departments in accordance with the current production schedule and lead times.
- Assess and evaluate production capacity to determine the appropriate equipment, materials, tools, and human resources needed.
- Adjust the production schedule as necessary when unexpected conditions arise and expedite operations to minimize delays.
- Ensure timely shipping and inform Customer Service of any issues.
- Track outbound freight until it reaches the customer.
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Logistics, Management, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience in planning/scheduling within a manufacturing context.
- 3 years of supervisory or Team Lead experience.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to sit for extended periods.
