Job Overview

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.

Experience: Prior coaching experience at the collegiate or high school level is essential, with a preference for candidates who have community college experience.

Skills and Competencies: Strong communication, organizational, instructional, and supervisory skills are critical. Candidates must exhibit leadership qualities and professionalism while engaging with student-athletes. The ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and administration is necessary. A valid driver's license with no major violations is also required.

Core Responsibilities

  1. Assist in managing all facets of the basketball program, including coaching, promoting, arranging team travel, maintaining equipment, supervising student-athletes, and monitoring their academic progress.
  2. Ensure compliance with all institutional, departmental, regional, and NJCAA policies.
  3. Provide necessary instruction and training to develop skills, techniques, and physical conditioning for safe and competent competition.
  4. Supervise practices and games, including locker room oversight.
  5. Adhere to all guidelines and procedures outlined in the department policy manual.
  6. Maintain a high level of expertise in basketball and pursue professional development through clinics and seminars.
  7. Prioritize the academic success of student-athletes and consider final examination schedules when planning practices and competitions.
  8. Assist the Head Coach in recruiting new student-athletes to the program.
  9. Support the Director of Athletics and participate in departmental fundraising and promotional initiatives.
  10. Represent the College with professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
  11. Treat all coaches, officials, students, and colleagues with respect and dignity.
  12. At the end of the season, assist the Head Coach in compiling a summary report of the program.
  13. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
