Position Title:
Educational Program Consultant

Salary Range:
$55,000 - $65,000

Mission Statement:
The Florida Department of Education collaborates with parents, educators, and community stakeholders to enhance the educational framework for students across diverse backgrounds and abilities.

Role Overview:
This position is pivotal in providing strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for the Florida Pathways to Career Opportunities (PCOG) Grant Program, which is administered through the Division of Career and Adult Education.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring productivity under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities.
  • Fostering courteous interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Implementing the Florida Pathways to Career Opportunities Grant Program.
  • Establishing data collection systems to facilitate accurate quarterly reporting and providing technical assistance to local apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship initiatives.
  • Coordinating the annual dissemination of PCOG-related data on the Department's website.
  • Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of federal laws, state regulations, and other compliance requirements relevant to apprenticeship programs.
  • Conducting program evaluations and fiscal assessments through on-site visits and remote monitoring.
  • Analyzing findings and preparing corrective action or improvement plans as necessary.
  • Engaging in investigations and inquiries as required.
  • Maintaining communication with the Auditor General, Inspector General, and other state offices.
  • Performing additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A solid understanding of state regulations concerning personnel management.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage competing deadlines effectively.
  • Quality assurance and compliance expertise.
  • Excellent listening, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including public speaking proficiency.
  • Technological proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Experience in grant management and educational program development.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Four to six years of professional experience in grants and contracts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Experience with apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.
  • Public speaking experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possession of a current Florida Certified Contract Management certificate is highly desirable.
