LEAD CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR
Definition

Under general oversight, this role involves supervising and executing the responsibilities of maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within educational facilities and their surroundings; along with performing additional tasks as necessary.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with school administration and/or custodial management on cleaning and maintenance issues;
  • Conduct regular evaluations of the school facilities and the performance of assigned custodial staff;
  • Notify school leadership of any discrepancies;
  • Assist custodial staff with cleaning challenges and provide training for new hires;
  • Respond to requests for setting up classrooms, multi-purpose areas, and gymnasiums for various events;
  • Guide custodial staff in their assigned tasks;
  • Report necessary repairs;
  • Perform minor non-technical repairs and adjustments to facility equipment and fixtures;
  • Order required custodial supplies and equipment;
  • Oversee the storage, maintenance, and utilization of custodial supplies and equipment;
  • Receive and distribute educational supplies;
  • Execute special custodial tasks upon request;
  • Carry out all standard custodial duties; and
  • Supervise and engage in extensive cleaning of the facilities during the summer season.
Qualifications

Knowledge of:

  • Techniques, materials, and tools utilized in cleaning classrooms, hallways, and equipment in public educational buildings;
  • Safety hazards associated with the operation of educational facilities.

Ability to:

  • Foster and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders;
  • Oversee and assist others in organizing and planning their tasks, ensuring effective completion;
  • Perform general custodial and basic maintenance tasks;
  • Utilize standard electrical cleaning equipment; and
  • Engage in physically demanding labor.

Experience:
Minimum of two years in cleaning and maintenance roles;

License:
Valid California Driver's License.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.


The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 pounds such as salt and bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
