Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Health First. As a critical care respiratory professional, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in adult and neonatal critical care areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain equipment in good working order and troubleshoot when necessary, reporting all malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate area/associate with documentation of the problem.
  • Thoroughly document patient care, interdisciplinary Plan of Care, patient education, and charges for care provided.
  • Give report to the oncoming shift on all patients and procedures, and ensure completion of workload before leaving.
  • Ensure medication safety by removing only one patient's medication at a time from the Pyxis system.
  • Use the Pyxis med slip to appropriately identify two patient identifiers.
  • Follow proper infection control procedures for care provided, and proper hand washing technique.
  • Initiate and manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation per physicians' orders, including troubleshooting and discontinuation.
  • Perform acute and intensive care functions for the adult/pediatric patient.
  • Demonstrate ability to interpret CXR for ETT, Pulmonary Artery, and IABP catheter placement, as well as the ability to interpret basic cardiac/pulmonary complications.
  • Initiate Heliox therapy and understand indications, contraindications, and complications.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform emergent intubation, elective oral and nasal intubations.
  • Perform arterial line insertions and proficiency in SVO2 monitoring and calibrations.

  • Thorough understanding of all respiratory care modalities.
  • Ability to make judgment decisions and recommendations to physicians pertaining to respiratory care modalities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
