GMF Steel Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cost Estimator to contribute to our growing operations. This role offers significant potential for professional advancement and will include comprehensive training.
Please note: This position requires in-person attendance.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop comprehensive proposals encompassing structural steel, miscellaneous metals, detailing, and installation/erection.
- Conduct material take-offs, assess shop and field labor needs, and evaluate equipment requirements.
- Anticipate complex fabrication and erection scenarios, adjusting bid proposals accordingly.
- Review all contract documents, including specifications, drawings, and general conditions.
- Calculate quantities and types of structural members necessary to fulfill project requirements.
- Assess shop operations and estimate the time required for project completion efficiently.
- Formulate practical erection strategies, considering labor and equipment needs.
- Identify and clarify any areas in bid documents that may require further explanation or special considerations.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business is preferred.
- Experience in drafting is advantageous.
- Background in Commercial General Contracting Estimating is essential.
- Ability to interpret and analyze construction plans effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time-management and organizational abilities are required.
- Annual Salary: $60,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience.
