Job Title: Steel Estimator

GMF Steel Group is seeking a skilled Steel Estimator to join our team. As a Steel Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing proposals, taking off materials, and evaluating contract documents.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare proposals for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, detailing, installation/erection, and special conditions
  • Take off of materials, shop labor, field labor, equipment requirements
  • Evaluate all contract documents, including specifications, drawings, general conditions, and special provisions
  • Determine quantities and types of members required to complete project scope
  • Determine shop operations and total time for each required to complete project scope in the most efficient manner
  • Determine practical and efficient erection schemes, labor force, and equipment required
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or business, preferred
  • Drafting experience, preferred
  • Experience in Commercial General Contracting Estimating
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office full suite, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills required
