SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
As an International Mobility Consultant, you will play a crucial role in managing the relocation process for employees transitioning to the United States, with a specific emphasis on expatriates from Japan. Your expertise will ensure that employees and their families experience a smooth and efficient relocation journey.
Office Location: Chatsworth, CA
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Global Mobility Management: Oversee and coordinate the entire relocation process for expatriates moving to the United States, which includes visa processing, housing support, transportation arrangements, and cultural acclimatization.
- Expatriate Support: Act as the main contact for expatriates relocating from Japan, addressing their inquiries, providing assistance, and delivering cultural orientation to ease their adjustment to the U.S. work environment.
- Policy Enforcement: Implement and uphold global mobility policies, ensuring compliance with legal standards and alignment with organizational goals, particularly concerning immigration and visa regulations.
- Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with external service providers, including relocation firms and immigration specialists, to facilitate relocation services and ensure comprehensive support for expatriates and their families.
- Legal and Compliance Guidance: Stay informed about immigration laws, tax obligations, and compliance issues related to international relocations, providing expatriates with necessary guidance on legal and financial matters.
- Cultural Adaptation: Offer cultural orientation and support to expatriates and their families, assisting them in navigating cultural differences and understanding social norms in the United States.
- Logistical Oversight: Manage logistics such as transportation, shipping of personal belongings, temporary housing solutions, and educational options for expatriates' children, ensuring a seamless transition.
- Financial Advisory: Help expatriates comprehend their financial responsibilities in the United States, including tax implications and insurance needs, while managing relocation budgets effectively.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with HR, legal, finance, and other departments to streamline processes and ensure that mobility initiatives align with company objectives.
- Process Enhancement: Identify and implement improvements in the global mobility function, applying best practices to boost efficiency and enhance the overall experience for employees.
- Perform additional duties as required related to the role.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in international relations, business administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in global mobility or expatriate management.
- Fluency in both Japanese and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of immigration laws, tax regulations, and relocation processes.
- Exceptional interpersonal and cross-cultural communication abilities.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, HRIS).
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of international business practices.
- Global mobility certification (e.g., GMS, GMS-T) is advantageous.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not require supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to perform typical office tasks, including sitting, standing, and using a computer.
SALARY INFORMATION:
The salary range for this position is between $64,400.00 and $94,920.00 annually, based on qualifications, experience, and skills.
