Work Schedule: Full-Time Evenings

Shift: 3 PM - 11 PM

Community Overview: AdventHealth East Orlando is a 265-bed community hospital that has been a cornerstone for residents since 1941, recognized as a pioneering local healthcare provider in a rapidly growing area.

  • The hospital recently underwent a significant expansion, enhancing its capacity and introducing a new patient tower with 80 private rooms designed to improve the holistic care experience.
  • The facility handles approximately 89,018 emergency cases annually.

Your Role: As a Certified Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are meticulously cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized. Under the guidance of the SPD Supervisor or Manager, you will adhere to strict protocols for the reprocessing cycle, following the manufacturer's instructions for use. You will accurately assemble instrument trays according to established lists and maintain compliance with all decontamination and sterilization equipment guidelines.

Value You Bring to the Team:

  • Rotate through various departmental functions, including decontamination, surgical tray assembly, and sterilization processes.
  • Identify and segregate reusable items for cleaning and sterilization, ensuring proper methods are employed based on manufacturer guidelines.
  • Accurately assemble instruments and complex sets, documenting information in the tracking system.
  • Select appropriate sterilization packaging and materials, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed for safe handling.
  • Verify that sterility indicators and lot stickers are present on all instrument sets.

Qualifications for Success:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in a sterile processing environment or completion of a surgical technology program or military training.
  • Certification from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
