About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at AdventHealth Orlando. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care by providing thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized instrument trays and equipment to the OR and other departments in the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the SPD Supervisor/Manager or Educator, you will be responsible for reprocessing instrument trays and equipment according to manufacturer instructions for use.
  • You will accurately assemble instruments, complex instrument sets, and other surgical items by selecting the appropriate items, trays, and instruments and record information in a computer tracking system or paper instrument count sheet.
  • You will select proper cleaning methods for pre-cleaning and cleaning instrumentation, power tools, and equipment sent to Central Service based upon manufacturer instructions for use.
  • You will correctly and safely operate all equipment in the decontamination area, ensuring that all standards for personal protective equipment and prevention of body fluid exposure are always adhered to.
Requirements
  • Experience in the sterile processing environment or graduate of a surgical technology program or military training program.
  • Certification through HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution).
