Job Description

The Assistant Director will work closely with the Executive Director to provide crisis intervention and referral services support to members of the legal community. This position requires a licensed attorney with a minimum of five years in active recovery who is committed to providing empathetic support to lawyers and other legal professionals while maintaining strict confidentiality.

The ideal candidate will have intimate knowledge of and personal experience with the challenges and stigma faced by legal professionals facing mental health and substance use issues.

The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing incoming email and telephone calls from lawyers, law students, judges and other members of the legal community seeking support and guidance.

The successful candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to provide empathetic support to individuals in distress.

The Assistant Director will also be responsible for collaborating with the Executive Director to develop and implement programs and initiatives to support the well-being of legal professionals.

This includes conducting outreach and education within the legal community to raise awareness of mental health and wellness issues, maximizing various communication channels and platforms.

The Assistant Director will coordinate with external partners and service providers to ensure support services are available to those in need.

Promote positive professional relationships with bench, bar and public.

Develop and maintain educational and promotional materials, including WordPress to update the LCL-CT website.

Become familiar with relevant laws and regulations pertaining to the operation of a non-profit entity.

Maintain knowledge and availability of resources related to mental health, substance use and well-being by participating in professional development opportunities.

Attend and participate in local, regional, and national Lawyer Assistance programs and conferences.

Oversee and participate in weekly day or evening step recovery meetings at the primary LCL office or other locations, as necessary.

Engage, train, and supervise volunteers to assist with recovery meetings.

Participate in recovery efforts with new prospects and members encountering challenges in their recovery journey.

Develop programs for presentation to various professional groups including the Judges Pre-Bench Orientation and bar associations (including local affinity bar associations).

Assist in the selection, training, and supervision of administrative staff, as directed by the Executive Director and the Board of Directors.

Assist in the maintenance of the physical office including event preparation and cleanup.

Assist the Executive Director with disbursement of payments to vendors, therapists and other entities as well as maintaining detailed financial records regarding the fiscal management of the organization.

Salary and Benefits

">

The salary range for this position is $95,000-$105,000 per year.

LCL-CT offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a generous paid time off policy.

Requirements and Qualifications

">

To be considered for this position, you must have a strong commitment to improving the lives of legal professionals.

You should be a licensed attorney in good standing, either active or inactive, preferably in Connecticut.

You must have at least five years of sobriety and recovery.

You should have intimate knowledge of and personal experience with the challenges and stigma faced by legal professionals facing mental health and substance use issues.

You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to provide empathetic support to individuals in distress.

You should be able to effectively collaborate with colleagues and partners, as well as manage competing priorities effectively under constraints of time and resources.

You must possess a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards, as well as a thorough understanding of the legal and ethical obligations associated with providing support services to legal professionals.
