We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Career Development Specialist to join our team at CrossPurpose. As a vital member of our organization, you will play a key role in empowering individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to overcome generational poverty and achieve self-sufficiency.

About Us

CrossPurpose is a non-profit organization committed to breaking the cycle of poverty through career and community development. With a strong focus on urban leadership development, we provide comprehensive programs that equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in their careers and personal lives.

The Role

As our Career Development Specialist, you will be responsible for coaching and mentoring program participants, known as Leaders, through our six-month Leader program. Your primary objective will be to support and guide Leaders in achieving their career goals, while also fostering a sense of community and belonging among our team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit and interview potential Leaders to assess their suitability for the program
  • Coordinate program orientations, including drug testing and orientation sessions
  • Communicate with internal departments regarding Leader progress and any challenges they may face
  • Collaborate with Lead Coaches to develop and implement coaching strategies
  • Coaching two classes annually, comprising 40-60 Leaders, to help them achieve their career objectives
  • Maintain regular communication with Leaders to track their progress and provide ongoing support
  • Hold Leaders accountable to program requirements and encourage growth in areas such as employability and mindset
  • Support Leaders in setting and achieving personalized goals, which contribute to their overall success
  • Arrange and schedule monthly coaching meetings with each Leader
  • Track Leader communication, progress, and updates in Salesforce CRM
  • Fulfill coaching deliverables that align with organizational goals and Leader success
  • Update Lead Coach on Leader progress and escalating needs for resource referrals
  • Assist Leaders in securing full-time employment with a livable wage

Requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexities surrounding poverty and experience working with disadvantaged populations
  • 3+ years of experience in career and community development, preferably in a multi-program environment; related bachelors degree strongly recommended, and masters degree a plus
  • 3+ years of cross-cultural leadership experience
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
  • Proven organizational skills, attention to detail, high standards, initiative, and follow-through
  • Ability to motivate others and solve problems
  • Team player willing to assist other staff members when needed
  • Capacity to work creatively within a budget and find innovative ways to manage resources
  • Strong commitment to Christian faith

What We Offer

  • Salary: $55,000 - $66,000 Annually (performance bonus up to 5% of salary)
  • Benefits: Health, dental, vision, workers compensation, unemployment, short-term disability, long-term disability
  • Vacation: 15 days per year
  • Sick Days: 6 days per year
  • Holiday Closure: Christmas Day - New Year's Day
