About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Attorney to join our legal team at Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company. As a Staff Attorney, you will play a critical role in providing legal research and advice on various matters within our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in evaluating and summarizing claims, policy service, and administrative matters.
  • Provide assistance on matters to more senior attorneys on legal issues and handle special assignments and projects.
  • Assist in assembling discovery requests and in preparing appropriate responses.
  • Prepare drafts of legal documents for review and finalizing.
  • Perform legal research and evaluation of legal issues for all areas of the Company as needed.
  • Assist in responding to various questions and concerns from the field force.
  • Assist in evaluating and responding to underwriting issues and concerns.
  • Assist on various legal aspects of real estate transactions, including those that involve bankruptcies, foreclosures, and lawsuits when filed.
  • Assist with issues involved in mortgage loan closings, servicing, workouts, defaults, and other servicing problems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably business related
  • Juris Doctorate degree
  • Membership in The Mississippi Bar, within 6 months after starting date
  • Strong analytical skills
  • The ability to function effectively in the workplace as exhibited through one's integrity, courage to act, and communication skills
