Job Summary

The Construction Control Representative is a critical role within the Facility Engineering - Project Section at the Fargo VA Health Care System in Fargo, ND. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital part in supporting the operation, maintenance, renovation, and construction of multiple sites, including outpatient clinics and leased facilities.

As a Construction Control Representative, you will be responsible for integrating complex medical facility designs, planning and designing in conformance with applicable codes and standards, and providing technical advice to peers, subordinates, and non-professional administrators or managers.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Project Design Work: Integrate complex medical facility designs for architectural, civil, structural, medical gas, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, communications, fire safety, security, and specialized systems.

Project Management and Technical Advice: Provide professional advice to peers, subordinates, and non-professional administrators or managers to direct major project execution decisions.

Construction Administration: Conduct surveys and evaluations, determine engineering and construction requirements, develop preliminary plans, cost estimates, project proposals and justifications, design and preparation of architectural and engineering plans and specifications, and supervision, inspection, and acceptance of construction.

Requirements

One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal service that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Experience in engineering aid or technician or surveying technician, construction inspector or construction representative, or supervisor of craftsperson's, equipment operators, or mechanics engaged in construction work.

Ability to interpret plans and specifications, inspect materials and workmanship, and ensure adherence to safety requirements.
