Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a qualified mental health professional to provide counseling and guidance services to youth at our Tillamook Youth Correctional Facility. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with clinicians licensed in the state of Oregon to provide evidence-based treatment and support to our youth.
Responsibilities:- Develop and monitor unit schedules to ensure that youth receive the services identified on their case plan.
- Participate in community groups, one-on-one meetings, and other activities to model appropriate relationships and to allow for youth and staff to have meaningful participation in the program.
- Monitor behavioral and mental health case plan domains, long and short-term goals, determining appropriate clinical and youth development interventions, etc.
- Perform professional casework in counseling and guidance of youth.
- Develop unit guidelines and protocols to inform the living unit on best practice approaches in dealing with trauma-based reactions.
- Provides clinical consultation, technical expertise, advice, and training to staff on appropriate ways to attend to youth who present with mental and behavioral health needs.
- Work with the MDT to develop and oversee the living unit behavior management system, including any point/level or grading and tag system, tag or level reviews, and ensures that it is in alignment with best practices, is strengths-based, and is developmental in design.
- Leads the MDT in the development of special programs, youth incentive or restrictive programming, and ensures programs are balanced with appropriate treatment and skill-building opportunities, restrictions, and are developmental in their approach.
- Conducts treatment (groups or individual sessions) with youth dealing with specific mental/behavioral health programming needs and/or on elevated suicide precaution programs aimed at crisis prevention and youth wellness.
- Conducts family therapy as indicated and as youth's families are available.
- Engages in clinical consultations with the consulting psychologist/psychiatrist/PMHNP to review youth progress, therapy, and paperwork.
- Monitors, assesses, and provides intervention for suicide risk with youth.
