Transformative IT Leadership Opportunity at UMass Chan Medical School

UMass Chan Medical School is seeking a visionary and dynamic Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead its IT strategy and implementation. As a key member of the executive team, the CIO will be responsible for driving digital transformation, enhancing internal processes, and positioning the organization as a leader in digital healthcare.

The successful CIO will have a strong track record of strategic planning, IT leadership, and experience managing complex IT infrastructure and systems. They will be a collaborative leader who can work through influence, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and drive change effectively.

The CIO will develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy and roadmap that aligns with UMass Chan's mission and strategic goals. They will provide leadership in the planning and implementation of enterprise information systems to support research, teaching, and administrative operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of trends in technology supporting medical education and research, as well as experience in the leadership of enterprise information systems. They will be a servant leader who can lead change effectively and have a strong commitment to UMass Chan's principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key responsibilities will include developing and executing an IT strategy and roadmap, providing leadership in the planning and implementation of enterprise information systems, and building and nurturing relationships within and outside the organization.

The CIO will also be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of the company's technology systems and infrastructure, overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of IT infrastructure projects, and managing the implementation of IT services for new facilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive management experience in IT within large, complex organizations
  • Proven track record of strategic planning and leading IT initiatives
  • Experience managing complex IT infrastructure and systems
  • Breadth of knowledge and previous substantial leadership experience within core IT functions
  • Experience in the leadership of enterprise information systems
  • Significant experience implementing new structures, systems, and processes
  • Demonstrated successful experience adopting new processes and systems using continuous improvement methods

  • Experience in healthcare or academic environments preferred
