Role Overview

The Field Engineer is responsible for delivering exceptional service and maintenance for semiconductor processing machinery. This position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues to ensure optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site maintenance and repairs of semiconductor processing machinery.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions effectively.
  • Facilitate the installation of new machinery at client locations.
  • Maintain accurate service records and reports as necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Order and install necessary components and parts.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service requests.
  • Train client technicians on equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Implement upgrades and modifications to existing machinery as required.
  • Stay updated on equipment and tools through ongoing training and relevant literature.
  • Ensure the upkeep and security of company assets, including vehicles and tools.
  • Adhere to professional conduct standards acceptable to both the company and clients to maintain site credentials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology is preferred; an Associate's Degree in Electronics, Engineering, or a related field is acceptable.
  • Experience in electrical or mechanical fields, or military experience may substitute for formal education.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of semiconductor capital equipment is advantageous.
  • Military backgrounds often excel in these roles.
  • Strong customer interaction skills are essential.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with relevant tools are required.
  • A comprehensive understanding of technical issues related to equipment maintenance, repair, and installation is necessary.

Physical Requirements

This role may involve working in confined spaces, clean room environments, and at heights. Candidates must possess mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 35 pounds. Tasks may require bending, stooping, crawling, or climbing. Use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory when dealing with hazardous conditions.

  • Travel expectations vary by team, with options for 0-100% travel available, accompanied by financial incentives.
