This role involves working closely under the supervision of a Pharmacist and Director. Strong communication skills are essential to relay critical information to management. Flexibility is key to adapting to daily workflow demands, and a positive attitude is crucial for fostering teamwork in the clean room environment. Given the importance of accuracy in pharmacy operations, the Compounding Pharmacy Technician must be detail-oriented, as precision can significantly impact health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and compounding of sterile pharmaceutical products.
- Maintaining the clean room in compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards.
- Conducting area clearance, verifying batch supplies, and entering data into the pharmacy system.
- Documenting IV admixture processes and clean room sterility tests.
- Utilizing all necessary laboratory equipment for compounding tasks.
- Assembling, inspecting, and verifying components for compounding.
- Calibrating and documenting the use of scales and electronic meters.
- Adhering to safety and USP guidelines for the preparation of I.V. solutions.
- Completing order entries and refills under the guidance of the Pharmacist in Charge.
- Timely completion of documentation such as labels, log sheets, and reports.
- Assisting with inventory management and proper storage of medications.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess a valid and current Pharmacy Technician license.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while working in a laboratory environment.
- Capability to wear all required protective gear as per facility SOPs.
- Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- National certification (PTCB) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate prior to starting work.
