Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma required, with a minimum of forty-eight undergraduate college credit hours.
Skills: Proficient in word processing software; experience in clerical tasks, filing, and professional telephone communication.
Certification: Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid Texas Teaching Aide Certificate if assigned to Title I students.
Special Knowledge and Skills: Ability to follow instructions from teachers and administrators; strong attention to detail in maintaining financial records; physical capabilities to stand for extended periods and use a computer for various tasks; ability to sit for prolonged durations; demonstrate appropriate etiquette when interacting with children and adults.

Purpose: The Special Education Support Staff member operates independently under the supervision of educational staff. Responsibilities include communicating instructions to students, providing instructional support, supervising students during transitions, assisting in re-teaching and reinforcement as needed, maintaining classroom records, processing order requests, and performing other clerical duties as assigned by school leadership.


Key Responsibilities:

- Adhere to the employee handbook and fulfill assigned duties, including clerical and record-keeping tasks.
- Maintain accurate records for PEIMS, attendance, and other documentation.
- Support teachers in facilitating student learning.
- Ensure a safe environment for students.
- Report any concerns to the Principal/Superintendent.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging lesson activities and maintaining classroom discipline.
- Help manage the distribution of educational materials for appropriateness.
- Participate in professional development activities as required.
- Supervise students during school hours and off-site activities.

Work Environment: Maintain emotional stability under the pressures of instructional duties; uphold confidentiality of all information and records; demonstrate flexibility in assisting others as needed; engage in professional conferences.

Retirement Benefits: Participation in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) of Texas, which requires five years of service for vesting.
