Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Summary:

The Diesel Mechanic is a key member of the STARS team, responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet of vehicles. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our heavy-duty vehicles, as well as identifying and addressing any issues that may arise.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and maintain Authority vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition
  • Repair and maintain vehicles and equipment in accordance with transit fleet maintenance operations
  • Operate vehicles and equipment to test the effectiveness of maintenance principles and procedures
  • Check and maintain vehicle fluid levels, including engine oil, water, and transmission fluid
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager of Maintenance and Facilities

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • At least one ASE Certification or State of Michigan Certification
  • Valid Class B CDL (Commercial Driver License) and willingness to obtain a P endorsement within 90 days
  • One to two years of experience working in a maintenance capacity on heavy and light-duty vehicles
