Job Summary

Pioneers Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant II to join our Orthopedic Clinic team. As a Medical Assistant II, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, delegate, implement, and evaluate patient care, including making preappointment calls, working with referring physicians, and obtaining vital signs and patient tracking information.
  • Provide direct medical care in the scope of a Medical Assistant under the direction of the supervising RN and/or physician.
  • Operate and maintain appropriate orthopedic medical equipment.
  • Perform instrument cleaning and prepare for procedures.
  • Document all treatments, procedures, and provide patient education and medication administration according to clinical charting guidelines.
  • Perform suture/staple removal as directed by physician.
  • Provide pre-operative education and assess surgical readiness.
  • Provide pre-operative care packages.
  • Provide post-operative care, post-operative education, and perform follow-ups.
  • Recognize and evaluate changes in patient status and initiate action when necessary.
Requirements
  • Current BLS certification required within six (6) months of employment or transfer.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or EMT certification required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Previous experience in a clinic setting preferred.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to move and traverse about the facility 50% of the time.
  • Frequently transport objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Occasionally position objects weighing up to 100lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate and exchange information in a way others will understand.
  • Must be able to recognize details such as color and depth within a few feet of the observer.
  • Frequently operates computers, machinery, and other healthcare equipment.
  • Constantly positions self to complete essential functions.
  • May be required to wear N95s or PAPRs throughout the shift.
