About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Social Services Specialist to join our team at Scotland County, NC. As a key member of our Social Services Administration, you will play a vital role in improving the wellbeing and safety of our citizens' lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with vulnerable populations, including the elderly, disabled, and families with dependent children, to provide training in essential life skills, such as household management, personal care, and community living.
  • Develop and implement personalized training plans to address the unique needs of each client, focusing on areas such as financial literacy, nutrition, and health and wellness.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify and access community resources, including medical, social, and educational services.
  • Provide support and guidance to clients in locating housing, job placements, and other essential services.
  • Lead recreational activities and group classes, such as sewing and cooking, to promote socialization and skill-building.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including shelter duty.
Requirements
  • General knowledge of policies, procedures, and laws related to governmental operations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, administrative officials, and the general public.
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment, software systems, and internet-based programs.
  • Ability to analyze, prioritize, plan, and execute work timely and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least one year of experience in performing tasks similar to those assigned.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to transport clients as needed.
