Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify projects conform to applicable codes, rules, and regulations for passenger vessels
  • Manage ship stability documentation and approvals
  • Assist in the development of new projects, ensuring technical feasibility, scope, cost, budget, and schedules
  • Act as technical manager for various projects, working with multiple technical specialist companies
  • Represent the department as a responsible technical manager and Naval Architect
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
  • Previous work-related experience required (co-op or internship)
  • 3+ years of experience desired
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to understand and develop a working knowledge of applicable codes, rules, and regulations that govern passenger vessels
  • Ship stability concepts, requirements, and probabilistic damage stability principles and calculation methods
  • Ability to understand and interpret various drawing types, including architectural plans and structural drawings
  • Familiarity with modern commercial shipbuilding technology and new computer tools for simulations, analysis, and calculations
Work Environment:

Significant travel may be required, up to 30% of the time. Typical travel is about one week per month. Longer term foreign assignments up to 1-2 years may be available based on department projects and objectives.
