Position Summary

The Los Rios Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position. This position is filled on an as-needed basis and is an ongoing recruitment effort. Applicants are contacted/hired year-round for assignments based on college needs. This pool is open continuously and refreshed every two years.

Applicants in this pool will remain active for two years. After two years, applicants will receive an email with information on how to remain in the pool.

The adjunct faculty member shall be responsible for providing counseling services and/or teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean. They will help students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content, assess student learning outcomes, and maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field. They will also continue professional development, utilize current technology in the performance of job duties, and maintain standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position. Additionally, they will assist with articulation and curriculum development and review, serve on college committees, and participate in faculty governance, including accreditation and student co-curricular activities. They will also assume other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean and fulfill other duties and responsibilities of a part-time faculty member.

Disability Services and Programs for Students (DSPS) Counselors:
They will also administer diagnostic testing to determine eligibility for learning disabilities.

Position Salary Information:
The initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (the initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 1). Typical Duties

The assignment may include instructing classes, which could result in a Counselor/Instructional split assignment.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Have a master's in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family, and child counseling; OR the equivalent. All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by time of hire. (NOTE: A bachelor's degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)
  2. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
