In collaboration with the Supervisor of Anesthesia Support Services, you will provide essential assistance to anesthesia professionals across various surgical settings. Your role will involve ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and supplies while supporting direct patient care activities. You will be responsible for the assembly, cleaning, and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies to guarantee safe and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to the core responsibilities associated with the Anesthesia Technician position.
  • May be tasked by the Supervisor to offer guidance and support to fellow Anesthesia Technicians.
  • Maintain and update the electronic medical record (EMR) system with relevant staffing rotation information.
  • Assist in training newly hired Anesthesia Technicians on departmental procedures and hospital policies under the Supervisor's direction.
  • Facilitate orientation for existing staff regarding new procedures or modifications to current practices.
  • Support staff workflow in the care and maintenance of anesthesia equipment, providing technical assistance for equipment evaluations as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Biomedical Services to ensure regular equipment maintenance and compliance with hospital policies.
  • Help maintain documentation for preventive maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
  • Act as a liaison with Biomedical and Pharmacy Departments to uphold supply standards and coordinate activities.
  • Assist in communicating departmental objectives and contribute to the development and revision of policies and procedures.
  • Engage in departmental projects as assigned.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as required.
This position is based at NYP/Weill Cornell and operates on a schedule of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11 AM to 9 PM.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification from ASATT.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Formal training as an Anesthesia Technician.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the Anesthesia Technician role.
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Proficient understanding of airway management protocols, including tracheal intubations, fiber optic scopes, C-MACs, LMA's, tube exchangers, jet ventilation, and AMBU bags.
  • Ability to operate and instruct on the setup, usage, and maintenance of specialized equipment (e.g., Belmont, cell salvage systems, syringe pumps, capnographs, TEEs).
