About NIA Community Services:
NIA Community Services Network, established in 1981, is a nonprofit organization committed to addressing the needs of youth, families, and seniors. Each year, NIA supports thousands of individuals through various programs, including after-school initiatives, summer camps, cultural arts, youth and family counseling, community assistance, and senior support services.

NIA provides students with opportunities in arts, sports, leadership, STEM, and academics through after-school programs designed to promote positive youth development, skill acquisition, and exploratory learning. Our programs create an environment where students enhance their critical thinking and communication skills, enabling them to discover their unique talents and engage with the broader community through experiential education, service learning, and community engagement.

Instructor Responsibilities:

As an instructor for after-school programs, you will be responsible for designing and leading structured activities for students in grades K-5. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in yoga and fitness.

Key Duties:
  • Lead engaging after-school activities for groups of up to 20 students in grades K-5.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues assisting in the classroom.
  • Prepare and submit lesson plans in a timely manner.
  • Manage classroom dynamics and address student behavior positively and professionally.
  • Communicate clearly and constructively with students, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Maintain the classroom environment and manage supplies effectively.
  • Be punctual and prepared to work during assigned hours, typically three hours daily between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM (exact hours may vary).
Qualifications:

Essential Skills:
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching or facilitating group activities with students.
  • High school diploma is required.
  • College coursework in education, youth development, or yoga is preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Experience:
  • 1 year of experience in Elementary Education (Preferred).
  • 1 year of experience as an Instructor (Preferred).
Job Type: Part-time

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2:20 PM - 5:30 PM

Work Environment: One location
