We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Splicer to join our Telecom program in Central Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and advance Henkels & McCoy's Safety Principles and work with foreman/construction manager to plan installations as required.
  • Use and understand the fiber optic color code, read prints, and install and test fiber cable in various environments.
  • Bond and ground fibers according to current specifications.
  • Place aerial and underground splice closures, as well as other closures common to the splicing and termination of fiber optic cables.
  • Operate fiber fusion splicing machines, OTDRs, power meters, and other equipment.
  • Perform testing, record, and document results per customer specifications.
  • Maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers at all times.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a fiber splicer with experience on outside plant or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and system documentation.
  • Thorough working knowledge of widely used construction practices of fiber cable.
  • Ability to detect safety issues and work independently.
  • Pre-employment, on-site skills assessment certification required.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical work, work in tight spaces, and wear fall protection when needed.
  • Ability to work up to 5 days per week, with overtime as required, in an all-weather environment.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Fluency in the English language.
