Job Overview

As a Refrigeration Maintenance Expert, you will operate with minimal oversight, independently executing sophisticated refrigeration upkeep and repairs throughout the facility. Your role will include providing essential maintenance support to achieve operational goals. You should possess knowledge in various areas, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, fabrication and welding, ammonia, and plumbing. Occasionally, you will oversee the work of contractors.

Key Responsibilities:


• Establish and configure optimal operational settings and parameters for all refrigeration systems (e.g., superheat, regulators, pressure settings, defrost cycles, etc.). Proactively monitor system performance and take necessary actions to ensure optimal operation.


• Evacuate refrigerant as needed for component-level replacements and repairs.


• Conduct thorough troubleshooting of refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, and control systems to identify root causes and recommend corrective measures.


• Perform calibrations on various components (e.g., slide valves, potentiometers, RTDs, pressure transducers, etc.).


• Replace components within the refrigeration system, adhering to safe lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and the Process Safety Management (PSM) program.

Qualifications:


• A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.


• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Industrial Refrigeration maintenance, specifically with ammonia refrigeration.


• Completion of RETA Operator 1 & 2 courses is preferred. Alternatively, successful completion of industry-recognized Industrial Ammonia Refrigeration training will be considered.


• RETA CIRO certification is preferred.

Additional Skills:


• Comprehensive mechanical knowledge (all level 3 requirements).


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Proficient mathematical and documentation skills.


• Skilled in using testing equipment.


• Flexibility to work various shifts, including on-call duties.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements listed below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:


• Ability to work in environments with controlled temperatures as low as -20 degrees Fahrenheit and varying outside conditions.


• Capability to work at heights exceeding 35 feet and access elevated platforms.


• Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.


• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.


• Proficient in using hand and power tools.


• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception, with or without corrective lenses.


• Availability to work nights and weekends as needed.


• Must pass a physical and respiratory examination.
