Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our global team. As a member of this team, you will travel internationally to install, service, and repair environmental-control systems in various locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, service, and repair environmental-control systems in residences, department stores, office buildings, and other commercial establishments.
  • Utilize knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout to mount compressor and condenser units on platforms or floors.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install ductwork and chassis parts using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment.
  • Install evaporator units in chassis or air-duct systems using hand tools.
  • Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
  • Cut and thread pipe using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
  • Join tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units using sleeves, couplings, or unions.
  • Solder joints using a torch, forming complete circuits for refrigerant.
  • Install expansion and discharge valves in circuits.
  • Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power sources.
  • Install air and water filters in completed installations.
  • Inject small amounts of refrigerant into compressors to test systems and add Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressures.
  • Observe pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to ensure proper operation.
  • Test joints and connections for gas leaks using gauges or soap-and-water solutions.
  • Wrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bands.
  • Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
  • May install, repair, and service air conditioners ranging from 15 to 150 tons cooling capacity in warehouses and other large buildings.
Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge in specialized functions.
  • Wide and comprehensive acquaintance with and understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
  • Ability to interpret and apply codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9002 and JCAHO standards, pneumatic and electronic controls, proficient in Trane Tracer Summit, Honeywell, and Johnson Controls computer software.
  • Experience with mechanical industrial water treatment, quality assurance, and inspection.
  • Ability to operate and adjust boilers, service up to 150-ton chillers, and all related HVAC equipment to safely obtain and maintain optimum efficiency for energy management programs.
  • Maintain, operate, and repair refrigerated walk-ins, reach-ins, cold storage plants, air conditioning, and environmental air conditioning systems up to 580 tons.
  • Knowledgeable in the operation, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing HVAC equipment, including heating and ventilation equipment, air conditioners, and refrigerators.
  • Experience with chiller systems up to 600 tons.
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 to 7 years journey-level HVAC experience.
  • Completion of HVAC apprenticeship, FREON recovery certificate.
  • Consideration will be given to relevant professional experience commensurate with assignment.
Security Clearance

Must have a Top Secret Security Clearance with a Full Scope Poly.
