Job Responsibilities

As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible for safely transporting patients to and from Radiology, following all safety protocols and processes. You will ensure the safe and timely transportation of patients, while maintaining a high level of patient dignity and comfort.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required. BLS certification required within 90 days of hire. No prior experience required, as we provide on-the-job training. You will be expected to maintain CPR certification and have the ability to use oxygen tanks for transporting patients.

Work Environment

This is a hospital setting, with patient testing areas. You will be expected to work efficiently, with prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 50lbs). You will also be responsible for transporting patients in wheelchairs or stretchers, up to 250lbs, dependently and independently.

Performance Standards

• Checks all requests for patient care information
• Communicates special instructions to technologists
• Logs all patients in and out from the floor
• Notifies monitor tech in CCU of patient location
• Properly identifies patients before transporting them
• Consistently evaluates patient comfort and pain level
• Consistently brings patient chart to department for review
• Regularly cleans wheelchairs and stretchers with disinfectant
• Strives to maintain patient dignity
• Consistently makes sure we have the proper amount of O2 tanks
• Understands the importance of communicating with nursing floor with IV pump issues
• Willing to alter schedule and work different shifts to help with coverage
