Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Inspector to join our team at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. As a Compliance Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess compliance of regulated parties, including railroads, trucks, and facilities, with environmental regulations and laws.
  • Review and evaluate prevention and response plans to ensure they meet regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct compliance and enforcement activities, including inspections and investigations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including local and tribal units of government, to build resilience and support emergency readiness.
  • Provide guidance and support to emergency response staff before, during, and after environmental incidents.
Requirements
  • Two years of advanced professional-level experience in emergency management, preparedness, regulatory compliance, or readiness.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information, and under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • Valid Class D Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in environmental emergency preparedness and response framework and the impacts on communities.
  • Experience in work with, overseeing, or contracting with Oil Spill Response Organizations.
  • Knowledge of oil and hazardous substance spill response tactics and/or facility response plans.

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $34.18 - $50.69 per hour, or $71,367 - $105,840 per year.
