About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Plumbing Inspector to join our team at the University of Minnesota. As a key member of our Building Code Department, you will be responsible for ensuring that all plumbing and utility systems in our buildings meet the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-site inspections of plumbing and utility systems to ensure compliance with the Minnesota State Plumbing Code.
  • Review plumbing plans and scopes of work to verify compliance with all plumbing codes and standards.
  • Consult with designers, engineers, and contractors to provide guidance on plumbing code requirements and ensure that projects meet the necessary standards.
  • Perform back-up field inspections as needed to ensure that all plumbing and utility systems are functioning properly.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current Minnesota Master Plumbing License.
  • A BA/BS degree plus at least four (4) years of experience in commercial/institutional plan review, mechanical inspection, and commercial construction, or a combination of related education and work experience.
  • International Code Council (ICC) Plumbing Inspector Certification, ICC Mechanical Inspector Certification, Sub-surface Sewage Treatment System Certification, Medical Gas Certification, and Backflow Prevention Certification are preferred.
