Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to coordinate patient care and ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile field, adhering to aseptic practices and policies.
  • Handle and transport medications and solutions safely, following hospital and departmental procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of educational programs for staff and assist with the orientation and training of new personnel.
  • Contribute to cost containment by using supplies judiciously and documenting patient charges accurately.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous scrub tech experience or graduation from a scrub tech school.
  • Current certification through NBSTSA or equivalent, within 6 months of employment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, function independently, and be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to various settings.
Work Environment

The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced surgical unit with a patient population ranging from less than one year of age to ninety-nine plus years of age. The ability to communicate in English orally and in writing is required. Prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day are also expected.
