Job Summary

A non-licensed healthcare provider employed by Medicine Journal is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care.

Requirements
  • Preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of North Carolina, First Responder, EMT, Nursing student having completed Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical Assistant, Pre-Med student, Military Corpsman, Combat Life Saver or Combat Medic or Surgical Technician.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a patient care setting.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and/or indirect care of patients.
  • Observe central cardiac telemetry monitors.
  • Identify cardiac arrhythmias and communicate with staff nurse.
  • Function in role of Health Unit Coordinator, which includes preparation of patient records, answering phones and call lights, and other clerical duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward.
  • CNA certification, EMT, First Responder (if applicable).
About the Role

The Patient Care Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on Med/Surg/ICU. The employee must be able to exercise judgment to recognize and identify signs and symptoms that require further evaluation by a licensed nurse.
