The Toledo Clinic's RoMius Urology Department is in search of a dedicated Surgery Scheduler. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday, ensuring efficient scheduling of surgical and procedural appointments.
Role Summary:
This position is responsible for organizing office, hospital, and surgical appointments for the physician(s) and department, under the guidance of the Office Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrange surgical procedures, lab tests, x-rays, and other necessary appointments at the clinic and affiliated hospitals.
- Assist patients in completing consent forms.
- Prepare surgery cards for billing purposes.
- Perform various administrative tasks including answering phones and managing appointments.
- Collect charts for patients scheduled for surgery.
- Compile and submit pre-certification information to relevant personnel.
- Draft correspondences, memos, and letters as needed.
- Keep the physician's calendar updated with surgeries and procedures, notifying them of any schedule changes.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Prior experience in surgery scheduling is essential, or a minimum of two years as a medical receptionist with completion of a medical terminology course.
- Strong organizational skills and patience are crucial.
- Consistently demonstrates punctuality and professionalism in attire and task completion.
- Proactively seeks additional tasks when primary responsibilities are fulfilled and supports colleagues as necessary.
- Exhibits flexibility in adapting to expanded roles.
- Complies with all policies and procedures of the Toledo Clinic.
Educational Requirements:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Courses in medical terminology and medical insurance are advantageous.
