Position Overview:
The Accountant will engage in a variety of professional financial tasks including payroll management, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of senior team members, the Accountant will:

  • Support the upkeep of the general ledger.
  • Assist in generating financial reports for stakeholders including the Board, government entities, and grantors.
  • Facilitate the preparation and analysis of internal reports necessary for budgeting and financial oversight.

Essential Duties:
The Accountant will be responsible for:

  • Managing Accounts Payable processes, which include invoice handling, vendor account management, expense report evaluations, and timely responses to payment inquiries.
  • Overseeing Payroll processing, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations and maintaining accurate payroll records.
  • Handling Accounts Receivable tasks, such as invoice preparation, payment application, and record-keeping.
  • Preparing schedules to support grant-related activities and maintaining fixed asset records.
  • Analyzing workflow processes and recommending improvements.
  • Conducting account maintenance, reconciliations, and preparing necessary documentation for management.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional accounting experience, particularly in accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and variance reporting.
  • Familiarity with GAAP principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and V-lookups.
  • Experience in payroll and grants management is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, financial administration, and proficiency in accounting software.

Physical Requirements:
This position may require extended periods of sitting and computer use, as well as the ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
