Job Summary

The Anchorage School District is seeking a skilled Painter to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance staff, you will be responsible for performing painting duties, including preparation work and matching of paint colors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform painting craft trade duties, including tape floating, preparation work, mixing, blending, and matching paint colors.
  • Use current tools and methods to paint surfaces, including rollers, brushes, airless sprayers, and other hand and power tools.
  • Work cooperatively with others to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Write reports as required to document work completed and any issues encountered.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three years of experience within the past five years as a painter, including tape floating and preparation work.
  • Must obtain an Alaska class B commercial driver's license with a general knowledge test endorsement within 6 months of hire.
  • Must possess an Alaska hazardous paint certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current methods and procedures, materials, tools, trim-out, and cut-in methods.
  • Knowledge of the safety procedures appropriate to the painting craft trade, including the use and maintenance of power and hand tools, including airless sprayers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mixing, blending, and matching colors in a production-oriented painting unit.
Work Environment

This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. The employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions, recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
