Position Summary:

The Painter role encompasses a variety of tasks related to drywall and painting. This position involves the installation and repair of drywall, alongside general painting duties that require a solid understanding of the painting trade.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out tasks using standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment associated with the painting profession.
- Observe safety protocols and occupational hazards relevant to facilities maintenance and painting tasks.
- Execute assigned painting duties, including surface preparation (removing nails, filling holes, etc.), applying paint appropriately, and ensuring cleanliness to deliver a polished final product within set timelines.
- Repair and install drywall, handling sheets up to 4x8 feet, including mudding, sanding, texturing, and painting surfaces.
- Occasionally assist with custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning common areas and residential units.
- Report any observed health, fire, or safety concerns regarding the units.
- Engage with residents in a professional and courteous manner, responding to calls positively while on duty.
- Maintain organized, safe, and clean workspaces and vehicles.
- Inspect units to assess damage and identify specific maintenance needs.
- Participate in safety programs and initiatives.
- May be required to work additional hours beyond the standard schedule.
- Collaborate as a team player and assist in various duties outside of repair and maintenance when requested.
- Ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Distribute resident communications as needed.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to be insured under the company's auto insurance policy.
- Prior experience in painting or a related field is required.
- Understanding of paint preparation techniques (taping, sanding, drywall repair) is preferred.
- Capability to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and a willingness to learn.
Tools and Equipment:
Utilization of motor vehicles, hand tools, telephones, photocopiers, paint sprayers, brushes, rollers, ladders, and other trade-specific tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Employees must be able to perform essential functions of the job, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
- Tasks may require sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, bending, crouching, and crawling.
- Must be capable of climbing stairs and ladders, potentially exceeding heights of 24 feet.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus adequately.
- Regular lifting of up to 10 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, and occasional lifting of up to 300 pounds (with assistance) is expected.
Work Environment:
- Employees may encounter fumes or airborne particles and may work near moving mechanical parts or in elevated or confined spaces.
- Work is conducted at various locations managed by Aurora Military Housing.
- Employees may be required to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to walk distances in all weather conditions is necessary.
Supervision:
The Painter will work independently under the guidance of a direct supervisor and/or management, reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Team Leadership:
This position does not typically involve supervisory responsibilities, although guidance may be provided to contract service providers and other personnel on specific projects.
