At Mercy Health System, we are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in medical coding and a passion for data accuracy.

About the Job

This is a full-time position that involves reviewing and analyzing medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in medical coding, preferably in multiple specialties. Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent is highly desirable.

We offer a competitive salary package, including an estimated $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing
  • Perform audits of provider coding and documentation to make recommendations for improvements
  • Maintain a close working relationship with assigned providers and medical office staff
  • Research and present findings on coding inquiries from providers and medical staff
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of official coding guidelines established by the American Medical Association (AMA), the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and contracted payers
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Two years of experience in medical coding, preferably in multiple specialties
  • Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent highly desirable
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
