Overview of the Respiratory Therapist Role

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and advancing modern medicine. You will perform respiratory procedures under physician direction, conduct patient assessments, and develop care plans to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Responsibilities of the Respiratory Therapist
  • Perform respiratory procedures, including ventilator management and oxygen therapy
  • Conduct patient assessments and develop care plans to address respiratory needs
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective care delivery
  • Support the organization's vision and mission by promoting performance improvement and quality care
Qualifications and Requirements
  • 1 year of respiratory therapy experience, preferred
  • Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR), preferred
  • High School Diploma required
  • Associates Degree preferred
  • Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education Program, i.e. CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP required
  • Current state licensure (RLT) in applicable state of employment
  • CRT by NBRC required
  • BLS required from the American Heart Association
  • Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire or obtain within 1 year of hire/transfer date
