Role Summary:
The Surgical Services Technologist plays a crucial role in the preparation and care of patients prior to surgical procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards. This position involves providing emotional support to patients, facilitating their transport to the surgical suite, and assisting in the setup of the operating environment for various surgical interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Fulfill the expectations outlined in the OneCHRISTUS Competencies.
- Engage in activities related to direct patient care and support within the surgical setting.
- Demonstrate proficiency in scrubbing for specialized procedures, including but not limited to Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, and Neurology.
- Establish and uphold a sterile environment, manage surgical instruments, and assist the surgeon during operations.
- Ensure that preference cards are accurate and up-to-date.
- Collaborate effectively as a member of the surgical care team.
- Maintain a secure environment by applying technical and aseptic techniques.
- Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions to ensure safety for both patients and staff.
- Monitor and manage the surgical atmosphere efficiently.
- Follow facility protocols for the decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments.
- Address patient care responsibilities tailored to individual patient requirements.
- Modify care approaches to meet the diverse needs of patients.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is necessary.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- BLS certification is mandatory.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting must be obtained within 180 days of graduation or a valid LVN/LPN License is required.
