Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Butcher to join our team at Compass Group Careers. As a Butcher, you will be responsible for cutting, trimming, and preparing meat for use in food production or sale in retail establishments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with supplier representatives to determine order details and prices.
  • Receive, inspect, and store meat in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Record and track quantity of meat received and issued to cooks and/or keep records of meat sales.
  • Estimate requirements and order or requisition meat supplies to maintain inventories.
  • Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats, such as beef, pork, poultry, and fish, to prepare for cooking; cure, smoke, tenderize, and preserve meat.
  • Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, display, and storage areas, supplies, and utensils within the work area.
  • Handle food items with safety regulations in mind during preparation and service.
  • Prepare and place meat cuts and products in display counters.
  • Prepare custom cuts of meat as ordered by customers or for meals.
  • Shape, lace, and tie roasts using a boning knife, skewer, and twine.
  • Wrap, weigh, label, and price cuts of meat.
  • Total sales and collect money from customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
