Job Title: Dentist

La Familia Medical Center is seeking a skilled Dentist to join our team. As a Dentist, you will provide general dentistry to patients and manage and treat dental infections and diseases in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a full or part-time dental practice at La Familia Medical Center, authorized by dental license.
  • Work in area of specialty in delivery of dental care to patients, demonstrating differential diagnosis capabilities and making clinical judgments.
  • Formulate treatment plans in patient dental records, evaluating outcomes and modifying plans accordingly.
  • Diagnose and treat emergency walk-in patients, providing dental care to patients meeting or exceeding dental encounter requirements and quality of care standards.
  • Consult with Dental Director on delivery of quality dental care to patients, consult with dental specialists on individual patient concerns and problems.
  • Participate in setting dental care standards and protocols for La Familia Medical Center Clinic site(s).
  • Chart patient encounters appropriately and in a timely manner, prescribing pharmaceuticals and other medications as appropriate.
  • Refer patients to specialists and relevant dental care components, as appropriate.
  • Train and supervise dental assistant students and dental hygiene students, participating in continuing education and training.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, providing counseling and educational materials upon discharge from care.
Requirements:
  • DDS graduate of an accredited school of dentistry.
  • 2 to 4 years experience in a community health center or with underserved populations, and work within a managed care environment, preferred.
  • Current dental licensure for the State of New Mexico is required, and documentation of education, experience and licensure is required and must be maintained.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Dental Specialty if practicing as a specialist.
  • DEA and NM Board of Controlled Substance registration, required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification is required.
