Nursing Assistant II (Per Diem) is required for the Neurosurgery / Neurology Acute Care Unit, a specialized 32-bed facility dedicated to the care of patients undergoing neurosurgical and neurological treatments.
This unit caters to a diverse range of conditions including spinal and brain surgeries, brain tumors, strokes, seizures, and neuromuscular disorders such as Myasthenia Gravis and Guillian Barre Syndrome.
Role Summary:The Nursing Assistant II position combines responsibilities of both a Nursing Assistant I and a Health Unit Coordinator.
This is a Per Diem position, requiring a commitment to work a minimum of 12 hours bi-weekly, with shifts rotating between day and night, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver direct personal care to patients as per the care plan, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with mobility.
- Measure and document vital signs, as well as patient height and weight.
- Assist with specimen collection, skin preparations, catheter care, and basic wound care.
- Conduct oxygen room setups and monitor oxygen flow rates, perform suctioning, and provide tracheostomy care.
- Support clinical tasks such as maintaining cleanliness in the work area, managing office equipment, and ensuring supply inventory is stocked.
- Assist healthcare providers during routine examinations and procedures, and aid in the procurement of necessary equipment.
- Reinforce patient education as instructed by registered nurses or physicians and document patient comprehension.
- Provide administrative support, including participation in performance improvement audits and data entry.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Must be listed as Nursing Assistant I and II with the appropriate state health department.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- A minimum of three months of experience as a nursing assistant is necessary.
- Proficiency in verbal and written English, along with basic computer skills.
