Counselor

We are seeking a skilled Counselor to join our team at Family Service League. As a Counselor, you will provide individual and group therapy to children, families, and adults with a full range of DSM diagnoses in an outpatient clinic located in Mattituck.

The Counselor will be responsible for evaluating and assessing clients, developing treatment plans, and providing psychotherapy and crisis intervention. You will work with clients of all ages, from children to adults, and provide services that are delivered in a trauma-informed, culturally and linguistically competent manner.

• Provide individual and family therapy to children ages 5 and up, adolescents, and adults with a full range of DSM diagnoses.
• Deliver services that are trauma-informed, culturally and linguistically competent.
• Provide crisis intervention during scheduled work hours as needed.
• Complete all clinical documentation in accordance with OMH standards in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with other family and collateral contacts, including care coordination providers.
• Participate in routine supervision and team meetings.
• Attend agency-mandated trainings.
• Provide telehealth services when needed.

• Master's degree in a relevant human service field.
• LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, or related licensed clinical degree.
• At least one year of experience working in a behavioral health setting.
• Prior experience diagnosing using the DSM V and experience with behavioral/therapeutic interventions for children, adolescents, and adults.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a constantly changing, fast-paced environment.
