This academic year, KIPP Jacksonville will consist of four schools serving over 3,000 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.
Position Summary
KIPP Jacksonville is seeking a Facilities Engineer to join our team. Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, management, and security of multiple school facilities and their grounds. This role encompasses oversight of budgets and contracted services.
The Facilities Engineer ensures the efficient operation of the building and site components, focusing on preventative maintenance and repairs. Collaboration with school leadership and the operations team is essential to manage significant repairs and maintenance, ensuring that the facilities provide adequate heating, lighting, ventilation, plumbing, and security for the safety and comfort of the KIPP Jacksonville community.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Management (60%)
- Execute preventive maintenance tasks and repairs as needed.
- Supervise minor repairs and coordinate maintenance work with contracted vendors.
- Monitor the functionality of electrical and mechanical systems critical to facility operations.
- Address daily work requests promptly.
- Engage in facility remodeling, new construction, and planning activities.
- Recommend and estimate repairs and improvements for the annual budget.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Administration (30%)
- Oversee school-specific facility budgets under the Director of Facilities' guidance.
- Manage all capital and special projects as assigned.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- Supervise Custodian staff schedules and address any facility-related concerns.
- Report issues and deviations to the Director of Facilities.
- Collaborate on compliance initiatives.
- Attend meetings as requested by the Director of Facilities.
- Manage inventory and procurement of necessary materials and supplies.
Operations (10%)
- Regularly meet with the Principal and Director of Operations to discuss facility-related issues.
- Respond to emergencies effectively.
- Coordinate with leadership on project scheduling and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with all school safety regulations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated salary range: $45,000 - $54,000 annually.

Qualifications
- Associate degree in a relevant field or a minimum of 5 years of verifiable maintenance and repair experience in medical, office, or educational settings.
- Proven expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing systems.
- Project Management experience is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as both a team leader and member.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Preference for candidates with experience in Building Automation Systems or Energy Management Systems software (BAS/EMS).
- Ability to respond to operational emergencies and analyze system operations to identify and rectify issues.
