Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and caring individual to join our team as a Supervision Aide. This role is responsible for providing assistance to children during the lunch and recess program, ensuring a positive and safe environment for students to eat and enjoy their free time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise large groups of students during playtime and lunchtime, maintaining a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts.
  • Direct the movement of groups to and from classrooms, playground, and lunchroom in a safe and organized manner.
  • Make suggestions for and supervise group games and activities.
  • Assume responsibility for outdoor play equipment, reporting safety hazards to supervisors.
  • Assist students in lunchroom clean up.
  • Identify potentially unsafe situations and take appropriate action.
  • Support children and staff in a proactive manner.
  • Anticipate and react to crucial and changing situations.
  • Collaborate with staff to implement individual behavior plans.
  • Perform basic health office duties, such as giving medications, basic first aid, and communicating with adults.
Requirements
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff and parents.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions finished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Interacting with students in a calm manner in heightened situations.
  • Interacting and/or collaborating with other people.
  • Demonstrating patience in dealing with students.
  • Developing effective working relationships with students and staff.
  • Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Performing duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
Work Environment

This role will work inside and outside, supervising lunch and recess. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate to loud.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
