Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Dietary Assistant to join our team at CommonSpirit Health. As a Dietary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional food service to our patients and residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fill orders for food and supplies, and perform preparation work for other areas of the Dietary Department.
  • Assist the cook as needed, following facility policy and procedure, and the mission and philosophy of the facility.
  • Organize and plan daily activities to complete the job in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Recognize and deal with priorities, and complete all assigned duties prior to the end of the shift.
  • Meet all established time frames within the shift, including start-up times and break times.
  • Work ahead as necessary to accommodate the needs of the cook.
  • Perform all duties in an independent manner with little or no direct supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle increased workload during periods of heavy workloads.
  • Show a willingness to take on additional tasks or assignments, change the work schedule, and/or put in additional time when requested.
  • Understand the duties of other comparable positions in the department, so that coverage can be maintained in emergency situations or to help out with unexpected department needs.
  • Recognize urgencies in co-workers' workload and assist in completing their assignments where feasible.

Requirements:

  • Ability to read and write, follow oral and written instructions, and do simple mathematics.
  • Experience preferred but not required.
