Join the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) as a Licensed Practical Nurse I and contribute to the care and support of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
About the Role:The Licensed Practical Nurse I is a vital member of our team, providing exceptional nursing care and oversight to individuals living in community residential homes. As a LPN I, you will implement health care plans, chart vital signs, apply medical dressings, and administer medications as prescribed.
Responsibilities:- Provide nursing care and oversight to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Implement health care plans and chart vital signs
- Apply medical dressings and administer medications as prescribed
- Assist with daily maintenance, personal care, and other services of support
- Maintain individual records and files
- Initiate referrals for needed medical services and engage in referral for supportive and health-related protections
- Communicate health issues to staff and update individuals' families/guardians
- Transport individuals to work, medical appointments, and other community engagements
- Current, active license to practice as an LPN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License
- Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationships with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Capacity to assist/lift individuals with physical disabilities and/or limited mobility
- Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methods, and techniques
- Capacity to maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information
- Familiarity with safety practices and medical terminology/abbreviations
- Aptitude to transcribe, read, and comprehend the English language

This position is designated as an "EMERGENCY" position in the Department of Developmental Services Emergency Plan. This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, you will be required to report to work.
All employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis and must have direct deposit.
This position requires the COVID-19 vaccination and Influenza vaccination, or have taken required mitigation measures, to prevent viral infection and transmission in State Hospitals and State Congregate Care Facilities.
